Enable pre-moderation rules for your content streams.
Magic Moderation enables you to leverage the SAFE content filtering system to create site or network moderation rules. Use this system to automate common moderation tasks, saving your Community Management team time and effort.
All content posted into a Collection on your custom network, including content curated from Twitter, Facebook and other social networks, is instantly analyzed by SAFE to identify spam, bulk mailings, hate speech, insults, and profanity, and marked with an abuse flag. Use Studio to create and customize Magic Moderation rules, based on these pre-configured abuse flags, which define how to handle each type of offensive content for your Network or Site.
Note: The abuse type “Probably created by a robot” is used for content that is likely created automatically by botnets, posting on a conversation. This content may occasionally come from a legitimate source, for example mass comments from a single IP address shared by an office building, triggering an anomaly.
For more information on SAFE, please see Features > Content Filtering.
If you are interested in implementing Magic Moderation on your own website, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Network and Site Owners can create Magic Moderation Rules with Studio:
- Go to Settings > Moderation tab.
- Click Magic Moderation Rule to create a new default rule.
- Select the abuse type by selecting from the drop-down list displayed.
- Select the action that should be taken if the comment satisfies the rule: Bozo it, Trash it or Premoderate it.
- Click Save.
Repeat for as many Magic Moderation Rules as you wish to create for a network or site. Note: Only one rule may be created for each abuse type and site rules will override network rules.
If a piece of content has multiple flags, the most restrictive rule will take effect. For example, if content has a flag for Mild Insults (and a Rule setting that content to Pending) and a flag for Mild Profanity (with a Rule seting content to Bozo), then the content will be Bozo’d. The order from most to least restrictive (high to low) is: Trash > Bozo > Pending > No rule.
Note: Livefyre considers all sources of flags when filtering content including both Magic Moderation rules and your Profanity List. Rules defined using Magic Moderation will take precedence over labels applied by the Profanity list if and only if those Rules apply a more restrictive action to the listed content. That is, if your premoderation rule says to Trash content containing profanity, but your Magic Moderation rule says to set it to Pending, the content will be Trashed.
To search for and review Magically Moderated content, select Flags > Magically Moderated from the Content panel.
All content that matches any Magic Moderation rule will be returned, with a flag that shows that Magic Moderation is responsible for its inclusion in the list.
Note: These flags are not visible to end users. They will only see the result, for example that their content has been set to Pending or Trash.
Magically Moderated content may be manually approved, trashed, or Bozo’d, just like any other piece of content. Use the button in the top right corner of content to change its status.
